	The Meaning of ‘SHIKA’ In Kiswahili (spoken in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, DR Congo) ‘shika’ means hold, grab, keep In Ga, a Kwa language spoken in south-eastern Ghana, ‘shika’ means money, gold (And in Japanese, ‘shika’ is a female deer!)		About ShikaBags For a long time I was trying to find a way to make use of the various fabric collected from around Africa by family, friends, and myself. A lot of beautiful cloth was sitting around waiting to be made into traditional African outfits, but I wanted a more modern, functional way to display the fabric. Using a basic sewing machine at home, I taught myself to sew and started creating simple handbags. Each of the bags is my own design, and I can make all the styles of bags from any of the cloth you see on the website. The lining I use is unbleached soft canvas, making the bags sturdy and long-wearing. These bags are unique – you won’t find anything else like them.
